Kitchen Tip: No Mess Bacon!

My family loves to have bacon and eggs for breakfast. Turkey bacon or non-nitrate bacon when we can afford it, but bacon nonetheless. I love it too, but I hate the mess it makes. Cleaning up greasy splatters all over the stovetop and backsplash is no fun. Standing over the bacon while it cooks is also time consuming and something I rarely have time for on busy weekday mornings.

A couple of years ago, I discovered a solution to this.

The ONLY way I cook bacon now is in the oven on my Pampered Chef bar pan!

I put the oven on broil, lay the strips of bacon out side by side on the pan, and pop it in...then I go about my morning business, peeking at it every 5 minutes or so until it's done. It usually takes about 10 or 12 minutes. The lip on the pan contains all the grease, and when it's done, it's fairly simple to pour the it off the pan and rinse the pan.

Voila!

Tasty bacon with no fuss and no mess!

What's your best kitchen tip?

10 thoughtful notes:

  1. I always hear this at every PC party I've been to, but for some reason that's the one piece of their stoneware that I don't own:) I really need to get that one!

  2. I love love love cooking bacon that way too! I'm not as lucky to have the nice PC pan though. I used to cook breakfast sausage like that too (well in my toaster oven). It was the perfect amount of time for me to go take a shower and get dressed and have a nice hot breakfast waiting for me. (I don't broil either, but I may have to try... although not broiling allows me a little more time before they are done)

  3. I love to cook bacon that way, although I bake mine - I think on 350, I'll have to look.

I also like to coat mine in flour first. Makes them extra crispy.

And I found turkey bacon at Aldi's for 1.99 last week!

  4. That's a great tip! I cook my bacon on my griddle which gets it done quickly, evenly, and crisply... but it's not really any cleaner than the frying pan method. I'll have to give this a shot!:)

  5. I will definitely try this method! We love to eat bacon too, but I hate to fix it with the messy splatter. I know someone who sells Pampered Chef products, so I will look into buying this pan from her. Thanks for the tip!

  6. I was a PC consultant for a while, and I always shared this at my parties, but I never actually did it!!! (I did it once, but it took too long.) I love that you use the broiler. That will make all the difference to me! Thanks for sharing!

  7. I usually dread the bacon mess, but I will be trying this, thanks to your fabulous tip!

  8. Doesn't it splatter in the oven and smoke? If I cook something under the broiler that is greasy it smokes like crazy! And the splatter int he oven is worse for me then cleaning a fry pan.

I really appreciate you taking the time to leave me a note! It makes my day!
